The borough of Arundel has had mayors for centuries. Names of holders of that office from 1539 to the present day are now on Sussex Discovery. Also added are the names of the town’s burgesses affected by the Corporation (1662).
Legacy Payments to Paupers in Kirdford
New to Sussex Discovery is a dataset of payments made to pauper families and widows in the parish of Kirdford. The amount paid was determined by how many children there were in the family, by head of household, and this information is on Sussex Discovery. The payments were made under the wills and legacies of Mr Shud and Mr Smallwood.
